BNG 2012 Had over 180MPH..... Then broke it! :-(

Pretty much as the Title says really. Had an awesome time and got carried away doing run after run back to back each time hitting between 170 and 180+ GPS verified! Must have done 15 runs like that, decided i'd used over half a tank of fuel doing that and wanted to be able to make it home so i called it a day and came to park up near the SPEED 12. There was a squeal and the engine locked up solid. :-(
Got it started when it cooled down but it was squealing and dragging that much power it stalled without throttle and there was smoke coming from the bellhousing, followed by loss of clutch pedal when i tried to limp it off the runway. So i'm assuming i've welded the thrust to the slave?

This was taken on my second run. I got alot braver later on as i got used to the stopping distance and putting power down etc.

glad you had a good day mate, but realy gutted that you've broke her, i'm hoping its just a replasable clutch component and nothing detrimental (sorry i cant spell)

Cheers lads. It could have been worse. I kinda expected to break something. With that much power the gearbox and driveshafts are on borrowed time. Waiting till something breaks till i replace it with uprated unbreakable items, mainly due to lack of funds.
Will have it up and running soon enough.
It's pretty scary doing 180+ heading to the end of the runway! An extra 20 MPH from 160 makes ALOT of difference! Huge change in stopping distance and distance travelled while you lift off and think "wow that was fast" when you really should be breaking and not thinking about it! Lol! Had a few moments when i didn't think i'd be able to stop!

Was told it was a 2 mile straight but it was no way 2 miles. Kept forgetting to clock it so went on google maps and used there Maps Labs Distance Measurement Tool. Now from where i was setting off to the end of the traight bit where you turn round i am getting 1.165 miles and from where i was setting off to the last big warehouse next to the track (the braking cone was well before this and at the speeds i was doing the end of the warehouse was stamp on here or die!) I'm getting 0.894 miles! If that is right then i'm well happy!!!! :-)

If you put in LS25 6JE to google maps goto the bottom left and click on Maps Labs and switch on the distance measurement tool then measure the runway from right to left and see what you get. We were starting slightly down the runway away from the SPEED 12 area and like i say braking at the end of the 3rd warehouse (well after the safe braking zone) :-)

Oh and can someone tell me why only half my picture is showing? You can't see that the revs are only at 5500 at that point and no where near it's 7k limit! Some of the other LS engine lads limit there's to 7500 but i need a better cam for that. Next year maybe? :-) Need a longer strip as it was still pulling strong at 180!

Yeah, you have to reduce the photo size in photo bucket etc
