Bucket seats and seat belts? Empty
PostSubject: Bucket seats and seat belts?   Bucket seats and seat belts? EmptySat Oct 13, 2012 7:48 am

Hey guys
this is just a random question to be honest, can you use a normal seat belt with bucket seats instead of using a harness and ripping the back seats out? and is it just as safe and would it pass a MOT with bucket seats and seat belts?
if so is there a better brand to go for that allow for a standard seat belt to just get threaded through?
Thanks Smile

yes its completley legal to use normal belts with bucket seats, and as for manufacturer, its better to gho for the design that suits, for example, seats that will tilt will be easyer to use normal belts rather than fixed back, this is beacuse of the belt location, being at the edge clossest to your arse, with the fixed back type you literaly sit in a bucket and its triky to use normal belts, where as tilting type seats dont have you sat inside a bucket, its more lumber and thigh support,
hope that make sense

Buckets are quite easy to fit in yours, best talkin to rob about it as he did his, you need to get a buckle to attatch to the new seat frame, nissan micra ones are easy to get hold of and fit corsa belts, you do have to put the pretensioner off your original seats under the new ones though to allow the airbag system to arm correctly and for the light to switch off on the dash (now a mot requirement) just takes a little cutting and welding with some flat plate to fit most seats with universal seat rails

You can use harnesses with the rear seats still in (kinda) depends how often you use your back seats, as to how you want to do it
