I see where you're coming from, but any power is better haha even if its like 1-2bhp lol, but I am thinking of getting a full exhaust system but I'm not too sure about manifolds, I've seen things mentioned about them on here like 4-2-1 and 4-1.. No idea what they mean or what's better.
An for the money it's peanuts compared to what some people charge to remap from garages.

aye thats what i mean man! genraly speaking it wouldn't be worth it at a garage! but for the price it is, there is no harm in it!

L_S_W - from what iv heard, remaping normally aspirated cars is not really worth it, you can see more gains from stripping the interior out!
But that is when people are talking of spending £150+ on a map from revo/r-tec ect. Hence it not being worth the price!
Im sure someone will correct me if im wrong?

for example, a stage one remap on a 1.4 16v mk4 golf is, original 75bhp 92lbft, after map 82bhp 101lbft
But any turbo cars (max stable map)
eg my TDI - original is 130bhp 228lbft, after map 180bhp 300lbft
Jareds 1.8t - original is 150bhp 154lbft, after map 210bhp 235lbft

I know, on mine it makes a big diffidence on MPG, up to about 5mpg better! but iv no idea on N/Aspirated!

Bigger gains are made on turbod cars, specifically diesels, but i had mine mapped and it does smooth the flatspots caused by adding parts such as inductions+exhaust, even down to different plugs etc, only thing i forgot to have done is egr deleate
Mine lowered my rev limit by 200ish rmp but added more smooth power and higher/smoother torque,
Plus a 5-10bhp gain is just as noticeable on a 70bhp engine as 25-50bhp on a bigger 150bhp engine

Windows XP= best operating system ever made, if your laptop you are using now is a good one and you have enough hard drive space (15-20gb spare) create a new partition and install xp to the other partition and use your laptop as a dual boot machine, saves you having to use an older (and possibly not as good) laptop.

R-tec did an experiment on a 1.0ltr, all they could get out of it was 2.2bhp more, (and thats R-tec), you will not notice it! Be better taking the back seats out and putting a road atlas in their place if you want a map.............

dont mean any offence but i just dont see the point!

i rekon it might help it, your forgeting that not all performance in an engine is shown in the extra production of horse power! if you can re model the map to get rid of any dodgey peaks, remove flat spots, up the fuel ratio slightly maybe even lift the rev limmit,
youd be suprised the diffrence this can make to how fast the car actually drives alien

just my thoughts any ways, rekon we should do it and see what we can get out of her Wink

True! My car would be much better if i smoothed out the flat spot at 3.5k revs.....
