PostSubject: Car Camera Rig!   Car Camera Rig! EmptyFri Nov 16, 2012 8:02 pm

Gonna be DIYing one of these bad boys up soon!
http://www.photozo.com/article/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/rig11.jpg

Using glass suckers and other bits and bobs

if all goes well, should be able to get shots like this:

http://fc07.deviantart.net/fs50/f/2009/270/9/b/M_Coupe_car_rig_shot_1_by_z3speed4me.jpg

After getting rid of the rig on photoshop Wink

Only thing im stumped on is an ajustable attachment from the sucker to the metal bar......
Thinking them old style science clamps?

http://www.sciencecompany.com/Assets/images/nc7803n.gif

But cant imagine them being strong enough to hold a 2kg camera on the end of a 2m pole.......

any ideas?

either of those could work but the desiding factor is the combined weight of both the arm and camera, looking at the first photo i would say that its using a light weight alloy arm and not scaff bar, ill hava a think at work.

Aye! Wouldnt use scaff bar! Heavy stuff!
Thinking more ali pipe!

Or possibly a peice of pvc pipe, with a slightly small pvc pipe inside with a bolt thru each end to stop it from flexing as much? Hmmm

Might pop to bnq n try that as its only a few quid!

getting a bit over kil, a suspension arm wont stop any 'sway' it just gives it a safe working area (if that makes sense) i rekon the best idea would be to trak some alloy pipe down, what about speeking to gav at race spec, and find out what the longest pieces of streight boost pipe are that he can gt, and ten just join two of them together? bounce

Lol! I like to make things over complex haha!

Thats a good idea! Ill get in touch with him!

The shots will actualy be taken at 2/3mph! Thats all it needs, plus means it can be dome with engine off to stop vibrations!

Also PVC aint rigid enough!
