| YES FIXED IT COZ IM A GENIUS, Sooo brief intro. Mainly on Edition38(Monkay) came across this forum by luck was just googling for pictures from USC 2012 haha. My first car, the old mk2 on the way home The mk3 that followed, which was stolen before I even got a chance to wash it The next mk3 vr & the most recent one which started as 2.0 8v then was a VR and then was a sold as a 20vt I had these wheels to go on but ended up selling the car before I got the wheels on So after 3 mk3's although I always said I'd never want to own a mk4. I changed my mind and set out to look for one. Went to see two in the same day both black 3 doors one heated black & one heated cream. The cream leather one was a dog, the engine management light was on & the guy was saying dont worry! . After he saw the same engine in my mk3 though he soon cute out the bullpoop. So here it is. Mk4 gti AGU 130 odd something on the clock.Bog standard, In good condition still have the 6 cd changed & first aid kit which I was quite shocked at, ( easily amused ). First impressions engine is a little quicker than I expected. Still slow compared to the mk3 naturally. Cant fault the drive though very comfortable & smooth. Handles like a boat, cant wait for coilovers lol. No plans to touch anything under the bonnet for quite a while. Just want something that looks nice this time. Bought these to finish off polishing, but then changed my mind want 18s not 17s lol & sold them Ordered the coilovers within first week with adjustable drop links & a couple other bits BUT new wheels are due to be deliviered at the end of this month so everything will go on together. The suspense is a killer! So had some spare time the other day set about sticking a couple little bits onto the car. Nothing major just suttle changes. Indicators, Lamin x tints, de badged grill, HID kit & I was going to change the door pins but I cant figure out how to get them out  Fairly surprised at how much easier the mk3 was to take apart as opposed to the 4, definitely a longer job. Also managed to snap two bolts for the bumper in the process <_< I was hoping the bonnet bra would hide the badge recess in the bonnet until I got it welded up but it hasnt so I may go back to the badged grill at some point. Very pleased with how the lamin x looks but not so pleased with my tinting skills lol so will be ordering another set at some point & redoing them, but there ok for the time being. Just need the wheels to come now & get the coilovers on now!! IMPATIENT! Also on the look out for some wind deflectors, a set of US rears & a 4 motion splitter | |

Cheers, Love mk3's my favourite shape after a mk2, but wanted to try something new, so thought I'd go with the slow boat above lol. I definitely miss the blue one alot though. I'll put up a couple more pictures. Im from london, the south to be specific. - shrek wrote:

Thanks, the 20vt conversion isnt the hardest one of all but by no means is it simple. A good friend of mine is a mechanic and does conversions more than he puts the kettle on. So I was able to give him a hand & get it done fairly cheap. If you want some more detailed info let me know. Im hoping to go USC this year, gota see how money is at the time though. A friend of mines never been & hes just got his first mk3 so I know he definitely wants to go. Do you have a specific club stand area then? The guy in questions car & on the wheels I bought & sold A couple more of the previous Blue one went through a fair few phases lol

haha do it! I bought a smashed up a mk4 as a donor car. Used everything from it the only thing left from the VR6 that I used was the clutch. Its such a good engine in a mk3. Not slow & sluggish like it is in the mk4. The wiring is a pain in the ass if you dont know anyone who can do it for you. As the immobiliser and ECU need to be de-immobilised. I used all the mk4 running gear & ECU. If you are thinking of doing the conversion I'd definitely suggest starting with a GTI shell or a VR6 Shell.

| erm... whats the advatage of the vr/gti shell? and is it the hydraulic clutch/box setup that matches the 1.8t block? starter motor position etc, and yeah, wiring may be an issue, getting the imobaliser removed could be trikey, what did you do about speedo or did you keep the mk3 clocks? assuming that ran on the original box..... oooh your gona hate me asking a million questions, sorry dude, youve got my imagination running wild lol | |

haha it makes no sense converting to any other shell as you will have to change so much. If you have a gti or VR6 you can still keep the same brakes set up suspension etc. All you would use is literally the clutch, no need to worry about the box as I used the mk4 box. & depending which 1.8T Engine you get determines your clutch set up im pretty sure. I'd definitely reccommend the conversion the loved that mk3, & i dont doubt for one minute i'll have another one at some point lol
